What makes it 79% Couple-Friendly: Couples get dramatic river views, quiet rim walks, and optional ranger tours for shared photos, yet daylight hours and lack of on-site cafés or lighting curb late romantic strolls.
Why 2-3 hours visit duration is ideal for couple trip: Enough time to hike one or two Gorge trails and enjoy river overlooks at a relaxed pace.
Great Gorge Scenic Overlook Trail:
Hike a 1-hour round-trip trail along the rim with several rapids viewpoints.
Tip: Wear sturdy shoes and bring water; start at sunrise to catch morning light on the rapids.
Upper Great Gorge Trail:
Walk the 2-hour historic railway bed for wider Gorge views and interpretive signs.
Tip: Pack a light picnic to enjoy at one of the riverside rest spots.
Guided Niagara Gorge Hiking Tour:
Join a ranger-led group (May–October) to explore hidden rapids and Gorge geology.
Tip: Call ahead to reserve; tours fill up on weekends.

Very beautiful trail, lots of detours to view the water.

One of the most scenic trails that we’ve ever been on. Perfect for a long walk or bike ride. We rode a rented city bike up to the Whirlpool State Park from Goat Island. Parts are gravel and parts are a concrete sidewalk depending on which way you go. You could stay on the sidewalk all the way if you wanted though.

I took the lower but they both seem to have beautiful views. The lower trail is very narrow and potentially dangerous. There comes a point where you come to a building that has some concrete stairs. If you go past the building and a platf...
