How Baby-Friendly is Therasia?

40%Baby-Friendly
View Map

Babies are allowed, but many stairs, pebbly shores and no changing rooms make movement hard; only short stroller stretches and basic cafés offer brief relief.

Google
Reviews4.5/ 5
(from 188 reviews)

Positives:

  • Low Crowds: Therasia receives fewer visitors than Santorini, making it quieter for families.
  • Compact Layout: Key spots lie close together, reducing walking distance with a baby.

Challenges:

  • Uneven Paths: Many alleys are narrow or cobbled, making stroller use tricky.
  • Limited Baby Facilities: Few public restrooms have baby changing tables; plan ahead.

What is Therasia?

  • A volcanic island forming the western rim of Santorini’s submerged caldera and rising sharply from the Aegean Sea
  • A collection of traditional Cycladic villages defined by whitewashed houses, blue-domed chapels and narrow stone pathways
  • A rugged terrain of volcanic cliffs and terraces retaining minimal modern development and authentic island charm

What is so special about Therasia for with baby?

  1. Ferry ride from Oia costs €1 per adult, baby travels free
  2. Stroll cobbled lanes of Manolas with minimal crowds
  3. Gentle, shallow swim at pebbly Korfos Bay with baby shoes
  4. Shaded family cafés offer high chairs and snacks

Note: Therasia is 40% Baby-Friendly. You may want to consider other Baby-Friendly Things to Do in Santorini for a more suitable experience.

Recommended visit duration: 2-3 hours

Why 2-3 hours visit duration is ideal for with baby: Allows time for the ferry, a Manolas stroll, a short swim at Korfos Bay and a café break without rushing.

Traditional Greek town, beautiful sunset views over to Mykonos. Much quieter and less of a tourist trap. Authentic Greece experience, friendly and knowledgeable locals who are more than welcoming. Not as many restaurants but lovely fresh food nevertheless. Recommend a visit.
