What makes it 58% Baby-Friendly: Babies are allowed, yet narrow cobblestones, stroller-unfriendly crowds, and no changing tables on the street demand carriers and planning; confirm nearby cafés or malls for diaper breaks.
Why 2-3 hours visit duration is ideal for with baby: Allows time to stroll slowly, rest in courtyards and enjoy treats without rushing the baby.
Guild sign spotting:
Spot ornate wrought-iron guild signs above shops.
Tip: Let your baby lie in a carrier while you pause under each sign for photos.
Hidden courtyard breaks:
Step into Durchhäuser at No. 3 or No. 7 for quiet, shaded courtyards.
Tip: Use these flat, calm spots to feed or change your baby on a portable mat.
Mozartkugeln tasting:
Try Original Mozartkugeln marzipan-nougat truffles at Fürst.
Tip: Buy one ball each; adults can share small bites with the baby.
Ice cream at Café Getreidegasse:
Enjoy homemade ice cream or strudel in the café’s garden seating.
Tip: Order a scoop to share and let the baby wiggle safely in your lap.

This is a very picturesque and quaint street filled with stores of every type, cafes and passages to parallel streets on both sides. Some passages lead into a courtyard, and we had the chance to visit Salzburg in Wintertime, thus finding several Christmas markets in these courtyards.

It's your classic Bavarian shopping area. A bit more expensive than normal shops but great place to wander around, especially at Christmas.
In summer, start before 10 am for cooler temps and fewer crowds. From November to December, enjoy Christmas stalls lit after 4 pm—ideal when your baby is cozy in a carrier. In winter, watch for icy cobbles and use hidden courtyards for rest.
