Positives:

  • Peaceful solitude: Early morning hours are quiet, ideal for reflection and clear photos.
  • Art and architecture: Combines contemporary installations with city and river vistas along the route.

Challenges:

  • Limited shade: Few covered sections in midday sun—bring water and sun protection.
  • Seasonal closures: Parts of the trail may close for maintenance in winter—check online before you go.

This is the best part of NYC for me. A previously abandoned above ground railway has been transformed into a park above the streets of downtown Manhattan. They are also growing lots of plants, wild herbs and flowers to bring life and greenery into this corner of the city. It's good to see they're continually expanding it. I especially love being able to sit and read or watch the world go by at the...

One of my favorite walking adventures in NYC! It's beautiful and well maintained. I got on in West village and walked to Hudson yards. I would have kept going if my schedule was more open.

Weekdays aren't as busy, 1st time we went on a Wednesday. 2nd time we went on Saturday, it was very crowded. No pets allowed. There are a few entrances, you have to walk up stairs. High Line has elevators located at its northern and southern ends, specifically at the Gansevoort Street, 14th Street, 23rd Street, and 30th Street entrances. There are restrooms and benches to sit on throughout the tra...

This is a beautiful walk with nice photo ops and places to rest asking the way. There are sculptures, paintings, and snack stands. Signs along the way give a little bit about what you're looking at. The walk is easy and well maintained. We really enjoyed it.

Highly recommended, especially on weekdays w...
