Positives:

  • Free public art: All installations are open 365 days a year at no cost.
  • Romantic viewpoints: River and skyline views from multiple overlooks create private photo spots.

Challenges:

  • Crowds on weekend afternoons: Timed-entry passes may be required; plan for narrow sections.
  • Limited seating: Popular benches fill quickly; arrive early to secure a spot.

This is the best part of NYC for me. A previously abandoned above ground railway has been transformed into a park above the streets of downtown Manhattan. They are also growing lots of plants, wild herbs and flowers to bring life and greenery into this corner of the city. It's good to see they're continually expanding it. I especially love being able to sit and read or watch the world go by at the...

One of my favorite walking adventures in NYC! It's beautiful and well maintained. I got on in West village and walked to Hudson yards. I would have kept going if my schedule was more open.

Weekdays aren't as busy, 1st time we went on a Wednesday. 2nd time we went on Saturday, it was very crowded. No pets allowed. There are a few entrances, you have to walk up stairs. High Line has elevators located at its northern and southern ends, specifically at the Gansevoort Street, 14th Street, 23rd Street, and 30th Street entrances. There are restrooms and benches to sit on throughout the tra...

This is a beautiful walk with nice photo ops and places to rest asking the way. There are sculptures, paintings, and snack stands. Signs along the way give a little bit about what you're looking at. The walk is easy and well maintained. We really enjoyed it.

The High Line in New York is a former elevated railway that has been transformed into a unique urban park. This green space, nestled within the city, is the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle. Walking along its path is truly captivating, with stunning views of Manhattan, lush gardens, and art installations creating a sense of total disconnection. Highly recommended, especially on weekdays w...

When is the best time to visit The High Line (New York, United States)?

In spring, enjoy blooming native plants between 16th and 23rd Streets; in summer, use the water feature sundeck for cooling; in fall, the grasses turn golden around the 30th Street corridor; in winter, bundled-up walks offer crisp skyline views with fewer crowds.
