Positives:

  • Easy Navigation: Thames Path and river piers are well signposted and link directly to Tube stations.
  • Evening Ambiance: Floodlit bridges and street performers create a lively after-dark riverside atmosphere.

Challenges:

  • Weather Exposure: The embankment is open to wind and rain; pack a waterproof jacket on unsettled days.
  • Peak Crowds: Midday river buses and South Bank sections can be busy on weekends and holidays.

I went there in June. The architectures on both sides of the river was marvellous. The bridges that the boat crossed was wonderful. The shard, Tower bridge and the big bang were all in sight during the trip. The explanation of the history of the area of river Thames was great too

When is the best time to visit River Thames (London, United Kingdom)?

In summer, time your walk for golden hour to catch warm light on the bridges. In winter, visit the Southbank Christmas Market for mulled wine and festive stalls.
