What makes it 85% Kids-Friendly: Children love live-commentary cruises, activity books, puppet barge, cable car and Jubilee Gardens playgrounds, but carers must watch for traffic and unfenced water; toilets scarce at some piers.
Why 2-3 hours visit duration is ideal for with kids: This time allows one river cruise, a cable car ride, and snack or playground breaks without tiring younger children.
Thames Clipper Family River Roamer:
Hop on and off river buses all day with one ticket. Comes with a free kids’ activity book.
Tip: Board early at Westminster Pier to grab indoor seats and avoid queues.
Thames Circular Sightseeing Cruise:
Enjoy a 45-minute round trip from Tower Pier with live commentary on 45 landmarks.
Tip: Choose a midday departure to avoid morning mist and peak crowds.
Puppet Theatre Barge:
Watch a 40-minute marionette show on a historic converted barge.
Tip: Book seats near the aisle for quick restroom visits and easy exits.
Emirates Air Line Cable Car:
Take a 10-minute aerial ride above the Thames from Greenwich Peninsula.

I went there in June. The architectures on both sides of the river was marvellous. The bridges that the boat crossed was wonderful. The shard, Tower bridge and the big bang were all in sight during the trip. The explanation of the history of the area of river Thames was great too
In summer bring sun hats and water; shaded piers can be limited. In winter dress in layers and pack a waterproof jacket—river breezes feel colder.
