This castle is a jewel. It is beautifully preserved and is of a scale that feels like a real home. Tracy, our guide, was one of the best we have ever had. She is full of good information and presents very clearly. She also never makes you feel rushed on the tour.

I really enjoyed visiting Lauriston Castle! it’s such a beautiful and peaceful place with a fascinating history. I definitely recommend joining the guided tour; the guides are very knowledgeable and bring the house!

Lovely gardens. Great for a weekend walk. Parking is available but can be limited when busy. Nice little Mimi’s cafe for coffee and cakes.

About to the end of our jetlagged day trip (to keep us awake as long as possible), we stopped at Lauriston. Although it was closed, the grounds were open and fun to explore. Beautiful views, amazing vistas, and lush flora kept our cameras out. It was also quite peaceful, with almost no one there besides our group. It made for a nice last stop before ending our day.
In spring, follow the Easter Trail and spot baby birds in the woodlands. Summer brings puppet shows and dinosaur days. Autumn colors light up the Japanese garden. In winter, guided tours run only weekends—check times before you go.
