What makes it 57% Kids-Friendly: Children are welcome at specific family shows like In the Night Garden Live, but there are no play zones or child-minding services, so interest drops when no kid-friendly event is scheduled.
Why 2-3 hours visit duration is ideal for with kids: A 2-3 hour visit allows time for a show, cafe break, and exploring the atrium without rushing younger children.
Attend a children’s show:
Book tickets for family-friendly performances like In the Night Garden Live.
Tip: Reserve seats online in advance to secure a group of four together.
Explore the atrium:
Walk through the spacious atrium to see art installations and people-watch.
Tip: Stop by the reception seating areas for a quick rest between shows.
Grab snacks at the café:
Enjoy coffee, hot chocolate, pastries or light bites in the front-of-house outlets.
Tip: Visit the café right at opening or mid-show to avoid queues with kids.

Came here to watch a rugby match on the big screen. There aren’t nearly enough places to sit in the area, which was large enough for at least a few more seats. Because we couldn’t get seats we also couldn’t order any food and so we just ended up leaving. The food menu has an impressive number of vegetarian options which I was not expecting. That’s my only positive right now from my brief visit.

Definitely a great event venue. Spacious and beautiful! Watched a show “LOLA” there! But felt that the chair was alittle too small. Not exactly very comfortable, but the show was great that it distracted us from the uncomfortable chair. Plenty of toilets.

Attended a 2 day event this weekend and great room and stage. Sound is fab & staff were very polite. I'm very hopeful that next year the food provisions will be significantly increased to process 1800 of us in sufficient time! Thank you team!
During the Edinburgh Fringe (August), check the EICC schedule for family shows and book early. In rainy months, use the indoor atrium as a warm shelter and play space.
