How Solo-Friendly is Royal Princess Cruises?

The open-deck seating, buffet variety, and live music let a solo traveler relax, take photos, and meet other guests, but lack of narration or guided talks may leave them less engaged.

Considerations for visiting Royal Princess Cruises (solo trip)

Positives:

  • Social Atmosphere: Shared tables and open decks make it easy to chat with other solo travelers.
  • Live Shows Included: Enjoy a live band and traditional Thai dance at no extra cost.
  • Convenient Access: Free shuttle from BTS Saphan Taksin and 4-hour free parking at Asiatique.

Challenges:

  • Crowded Evenings: Weekend cruises fill up fast; book early to secure a good seat.
  • Limited Storage: Space is tight onboard; carry only essential items.
  • Rain Splash: Rain may hit the upper deck in storms; bring a light raincoat.

Recommended visit duration: 2-3 hours

Why 2-3 hours visit duration is ideal for solo trip: Allows time for boarding, buffet dinner, live shows, and river views without rush.

I had the chance to try a buffet on a cruise here in Bangkok, and the experience was lovely mainly because of the views, which are truly amazing. However, I wasn’t really happy with the food. I went because the buffet was advertised as international, but honestly, the dishes were mostly focused on Asian and Indian cuisine. There were no pork or meat options, which was a big contrast for me since I...

We took trip after sunset. We were at thr 3rd/top floor. It was an amazing experience. The food was a good and a lot. The live music combined with people dancing with joy, the lights of the city in background make it an unforgettable experience. Few advice... book online, go after sunset, try to get top floor, be ready for some wait.

Overall good experience. We booked it via Klook and did not get to choose the seats. But it was comfortable and food was not the best but decent enough. Don’t expect too much. It’s not a dinner focused thing. Enjoy the cruise and sight seeing. Would have been better if they have some announcements on what we are seeing.
