How Kids-Friendly is Yongyeon Pond?

Kids love the dragon story and safe short paths, toilets exist, but no playground, unfenced water edges, and zero lifeguards mean parents must supervise closely nonstop.

Considerations for visiting Yongyeon Pond (with kids)

Positives:

  • Free Admission: No entry fee lets you spend on treats and snacks instead.
  • On-site Restrooms: Clean public restrooms are near the entrance at no cost.
  • Easy Access: Flat paths are stroller-friendly and safe for young walkers.

Challenges:

  • No Dedicated Play Area: There’s no playground equipment, so kids stay on paths or grass.
  • Uneven Ground Near Water: Rocks and small inclines need close supervision by adults.

Recommended visit duration: 2-3 hours

Why 2-3 hours visit duration is ideal for with kids: Allows time for a gentle walk, storytime, picnic and a café break without rushing kids.

Yongyeon Pond is a beautiful place to kick off our journey in Jeju. It’s a 20-minute walk from Dongmun Market, and so perfect for a leisurely stroll after lunch. We came here on a warm spring day, and the pond was so clean that you could see the bottom of it. You can also get on the suspension bridge and visit Yongduam while you’re here.

I was there probably right after the floods so the water was very dirty; however, its not a reason for the 4 stars. When I was there it didn't really give me the feeling of awe but you have to see it for yourself. I hope you have better weather than I had.

Not worth coming here unless you have absolutely nothing to do. There's a huge section of the river that is filthy dirty. Once you passed that it gets kind of nice as you see the pictures but Jeju is full of more beautiful things and I would concentrate on those things first.
