A solo adult can climb the 108 steps without help, take sea-view photos, pray or meditate quietly, and reach the site easily by bus, so the temple fits independent travelers well.
Why 2-3 hours visit duration is ideal for solo trip: Allows time for photo-walk, 108-step descent, and a quiet meditation by the sea.
Sunrise at Sunrise Rock:
Climb down the 108 steps before dawn and stand on Sunrise Rock to watch the sun emerge over the sea.
Tip: Arrive 45 minutes early to claim a spot and bring a light jacket for morning chill.
Photo-walk the temple grounds:
Wander solo through halls, statues, and coastal walkways to capture temple architecture with sea backdrops.
Tip: Use wide-angle lens or your phone’s panorama mode at golden hour for dramatic shots.
Meditate by the Sea Buddha statue:
Find a quiet corner near the seaside Guanyin statue and sit for 10–15 minutes of self-guided meditation.
Tip: Bring earphones and play soft ambient sounds if you prefer, but respect the serenity of others.
108-step descent and Zodiac statues:
Descend the 108 stone steps at your own pace, pausing at each Zodiac figure for reflection and photos.
Tip: Look for your Zodiac sign and snap a photo as a personal memento.
Coin-toss ritual at the Four Lion Pagoda:
Toss a 500–1,000 KRW coin into the pagoda’s offering bowl for good luck with ocean views behind you.
Tip: Carry small coins in a pocket to avoid searching your wallet at the moment.

Visited the temple on a weekday, there was fair amount of crowd but still peaceful to get good shots of the temple. It’s beautiful and calm and has the ocean front . I love the colorful lanterns placed here as it was buddhas birthday a week before we reached here. Do go early mornings or during sunsets

This temple is a truly unique experience. Perched right on the coast, the ocean view perfectly complement the beauty and serenity of the temple. The sound of the waves adds a calming element to the spiritual atmosphere. While it can get crowded, the stunning location and intricate details of the temple make it a must-visit in Busan. Allow at least an hour or two to explore the grounds and soak in ...

Visit: May 2025 An absolutely beautiful temple. The way it lines the coast provides an extraordinary view and the sounds of the waves are very calming. A great place, even if you aren't religious, but even better if you are (Buddhist). There's a lot of different areas to pray. It does get very crowded there, as it's a tourist attraction, but besides that it was great. Some food stalls as well, b...

What a beautiful temple! I came around 5pm - not crowded at all! You can find direct buses from the Busan bus station, it’s like an 1 hour and a half but it’s honestly worth it! By the sea, beautiful vibes. It’s an active temple so you’ll find monks praying which is amazing! Also lots of souvenir sellers and food stalls outside!

This temple was honestly beautiful. What really made it stand out wasn’t just the structure itself, but everything around it—the nature, the fresh sea air, the peaceful vibe. It felt like one of those places where you can just breathe a little deeper. Yeah, there were quite a few tourists around, but it didn’t feel packed or chaotic. The area’s pretty open, so people kind of spread out naturally. ...
