How Baby-Friendly is Haedong Yonggung Temple?

Over 100 steep steps, no ramps, no nursing room, and basic toilets without changing tables make visiting with a stroller or infant hard work; a carrier helps but overall comfort is low.

Note: Haedong Yonggung Temple is 36% Baby-Friendly. You may want to consider other Baby-Friendly Things to Do in Busan for a more suitable experience.

Considerations for visiting Haedong Yonggung Temple (with baby)

Positives:

  • Easy Sea Views: Front plaza offers panoramic ocean sights without climbing steps.
  • Nearby Snacks: Stalls by the parking lot let you rest and refuel close to entrances.

Challenges:

  • No Stroller Access: 108 stone steps block most paths; bring a carrier instead.
  • Limited Baby Facilities: No changing tables or nursing rooms; pack a portable mat and supplies.

Recommended visit duration: 2-3 hours

Why 2-3 hours visit duration is ideal for with baby: Allows time to enjoy the sea-view plaza, coin rituals, and snack breaks at a relaxed pace with a baby.

Visited the temple on a weekday, there was fair amount of crowd but still peaceful to get good shots of the temple. It’s beautiful and calm and has the ocean front . I love the colorful lanterns placed here as it was buddhas birthday a week before we reached here. Do go early mornings or during sunsets

This temple is a truly unique experience. Perched right on the coast, the ocean view perfectly complement the beauty and serenity of the temple. The sound of the waves adds a calming element to the spiritual atmosphere. While it can get crowded, the stunning location and intricate details of the temple make it a must-visit in Busan. Allow at least an hour or two to explore the grounds and soak in ...

Visit: May 2025 An absolutely beautiful temple. The way it lines the coast provides an extraordinary view and the sounds of the waves are very calming. A great place, even if you aren't religious, but even better if you are (Buddhist). There's a lot of different areas to pray. It does get very crowded there, as it's a tourist attraction, but besides that it was great. Some food stalls as well, b...

What a beautiful temple! I came around 5pm - not crowded at all! You can find direct buses from the Busan bus station, it’s like an 1 hour and a half but it’s honestly worth it! By the sea, beautiful vibes. It’s an active temple so you’ll find monks praying which is amazing! Also lots of souvenir sellers and food stalls outside!

This temple was honestly beautiful. What really made it stand out wasn’t just the structure itself, but everything around it—the nature, the fresh sea air, the peaceful vibe. It felt like one of those places where you can just breathe a little deeper. Yeah, there were quite a few tourists around, but it didn’t feel packed or chaotic. The area’s pretty open, so people kind of spread out naturally. ...
