Smooth pavement suits strollers and a nursing room sits 3-min away at Canal Plaza, yet on-street toilets lack changing tables and glass-filled stores become risky in weekend crowds.
Why 2-3 hours visit duration is ideal for with baby: Enough time for a stroller-friendly walk, photo stops, and a café break.
Stroll the Retro Street:
Walk along the smooth, pavement-lined road past Meiji–Taishō era buildings.
Tip: Start at the north end and move south to avoid crowds and enjoy continuous storefronts.
Canal Viewpoint Photo Stop:
Take a 5-minute walk to the canal for quiet waterside views.
Tip: Bring a light stroller or carrier so baby can nap while you capture the scene.
Sweet Tasting at Confectionery Shops:
Sample free bite-sized sweets at Rokkatei and Kitakaro.
Tip: Ask shop staff for small tasters and let baby watch colorful treats.
Relax at Baby-Friendly Cafés:
Use cafés with high chairs and space for strollers.
Tip: Check café websites in advance for nursing rooms and Wi-Fi access.
Browse Glass Art Shops:
Enjoy unique handblown and engraved glass pieces without workshops.
Tip: Admire displays at Kitaichi Glass and Otaru Glass Honpo at your own pace.

This is the shopping street you absolutely should not miss when visiting Otaru. There are so many cute and unique shops, including Snoopy, Miffy Rabbit, LeTAO, Otaru Music Box, and many others. It’s best to take your time—we spent about three hours browsing, shopping, and tasting local treats along the way. Parking is easy to find, with many lots available, and most charge a reasonable fee with a ...

Take your leisurely walk here and spend about 3hr or more visiting shops and trying the local food. There's a lot of things to look at. For some this will not be enough as most establishments close at 530pm

Many shops displaying glasswork, music boxes and popular characters like Snoopy and Miffy. It can be overwhelming. There are eateries, too, for rest and refreshments.

A must-go place when in Otaru. This street is way more interning than the more famous canal. There are plenty of interesting shops, for art, food, gifts etc. you can easily spend half a day here - walking from one end to another, then crossing the street for the return journey. There is parking nearby. Be prepared to spend and eat. Highly recommended. Will be back! Thumbs up!

But the shops that i managed to enter were mostly selling dried seafood so didn't bought anything. Though just strolling by the shops was enough to admire the charm of Otaru! Quaint and pretty shops decorate the street, some traditional while most have European vibes. Perhaps nex...
