What makes it 72% Baby-Friendly: A first-floor nursing room, diaper table and stroller-friendly ground exhibits help parents, yet there is no stroller rental and the tower or upper galleries need stairs, so timetable extra breaks and staff help.
Why 1-2 hours visit duration is ideal for with baby: Enough time to see ground-floor exhibits, stroll the garden, and handle baby breaks without rushing.
Explore ground-floor exhibits:
Walk through history galleries on the first floor.
Tip: Strollers fit in wide corridors; grab a free floor map at reception.
Stroll the front garden and red-brick bridge:
Cross the little bridge, spot koi fish, and photograph the building.
Tip: Bring a warm blanket in winter; paths can be slippery after snow.
Use the nursing room:
Visit the first-floor nursing room for feeding and diaper changes.
Tip: The room has a sink and hot-water dispenser; ask reception for the key.
Join a volunteer guide:
Hear stories about the building’s architecture and pioneer era.
Tip: Request a short tour to match your baby’s schedule and pace.

Spectacular. I've lived in Hokkaido for a few years. Exploring every direction. There is so much beauty here. The Hokkaidō Prefectural Government Office building or Red brick building has been renovated. The museum offers great insight into the history of Hokkaido. It's was a truly wonderful experience.

We visited the Former Hokkaido Government Office, affectionately known as the Red Brick Office, during our walk around Sapporo and were pleasantly surprised by how charming it was. The red-brick architecture really stands out in the city—it’s elegant, classic, and photogenic from every angle. Even though restoration works were ongoing, the surrounding gardens were still open and beautifully maint...

It is a beautiful place that the garden portion is opens to public. I think~ The garden itself is beautiful too with large trees, flower beds and couple ponds. I can see people sitting on the bench throughout the park next by the water or under the trees! The tulip is blooming at the time when I visit it. Great place for some nice photos!

I came here in summer 2023 and the government office building was under construction. And the front was covered. This time I got to see the real building which was very beautiful but still inside was under renovation until July 2025. Giving me more reasons to come back to visit. There’s a spot on the left side facing the building. A bridge on the pond which reminded me of Monet’s painting.
In winter, enjoy free evening illumination on snow-covered bricks; use stroller winter wheels. In spring, watch cherry blossoms bloom in the front garden.
