Children up to 12 get slides, swings, lawns for games, koi-watching, and festival food stalls; toilets are nearby, but absence of staff supervision, weather shelter, or large rides prevents a full-day rating of 90+.
Why 1-2 hours visit duration is ideal for with kids: Enough time for kids to enjoy playground, explore gardens, and picnic without rushing.
Children’s Playground:
Play on swings, slides, and climbing frames in the dedicated play area.
Tip: Go early to avoid crowds and let kids burn energy first.
Picnic on Grassy Lawns:
Spread a mat on wide lawns for snacks and play.
Tip: Bring a picnic blanket and snacks from nearby stores.
Cherry Blossom Festival:
Join free food trucks, craft workshops, and live music during late March–early April.
Tip: Check festival dates in advance and arrive before noon for best workshop spots.
Koi and Duck Watching:
Walk through the Japanese-style garden ponds to spot koi, ducks, and turtles.
Tip: Bring a small bag of pond-safe feed and stay quiet at the water’s edge.
Library Children’s Corner:
Enjoy story time and interactive reading sessions at Tsuruma Central Library.
Tip: Visit between 9:00 AM and 4:30 PM; avoid Mondays and the third Wednesday.

A dreamland! Beautiful around all the seasons, day and night, evening or morning and, even in rainy days Tsuruma park never fails to amaze me. As my campus is just beside, the Nagoya University Hospital, almost every day I cross the park, enjoy the quiet ambience and filling myself up with peace! Oh, try to come during sakura season. One of the best sakura in Japan blooms here. 🌸🪻🌷

Clearly labelled sections with different flowers blooming at different times of the year. It’s a nice walk around, prob best early morning or in the evening when the sun isn’t so strong.

Visited on Monday 7 Apr 2025. Sakura in shades of white and pink in full bloom besides Tulips! Lively atmosphere even it’s Monday. Enjoyed Hanami activities.

We went at the end of March 2025, which was unfortunately a little too early for the full bloom. Regardless, it was still pretty and I could tell that this would be a good location for cherry blossom viewing. They cordon off the hanami areas, where many people will be picnicking. However, they leave a trail in the middle so that you can still walk through and enjoy being in the midst of the flowe...

Went there for 花見 (flower viewing 2025). Although the place was filled with people the park was really nice. Definitely would go there again on a day with fewer people. It's a good spot for flower viewing.
