What makes it 39% Baby-Friendly: Babies need carriers because gravel foils strollers; no nursing rooms, diaper tables, or shade exist, so comfort and convenience are low despite free access.
Note: Sengokuhara Susuki Grass Fields is 39% Baby-Friendly. You may want to consider other Baby-Friendly Things to Do in Hakone for a more suitable experience.
Why 2-3 hours visit duration is ideal for with baby: This allows time for the 680 m walk, rest stops, and a picnic without rushing.

Beautiful area. It gets dark at 4pm in the mountains by early November so do t forget to have a sturdy jacket with you

I’m actually surprised how much I enjoyed myself. Had fun taking quite a number of photographs here. Come on a sunny day and see the sunlight get reflected off the tall grass.

There is one main path to follow up the hill in the midst of the grass which is pretty cool. It's very rocky and uneven so leave those stilettos back home for this trip! Amazing spot - 100% recommend it was definitely one of the most amazing spots we saw around Hakone. The pictures don't do it justice - the grass fields with the forest and mountains in the background are simply splendid. You can only reach out by car so it was also not as crowded as the other popular places around Hakone.

Pretty scenic short route (probably about 30min return if you take your time) It was a dry, sunny day so not slippery at all. The route itself is slightly steep but nothing too challenging. Strollers definitely not recommended
Visit from late September to early November to see golden grass. Check dates for the Susuki Festival and evening illumination.
