I came all the way to Japan, planned the trip to go to Kitakyushu, purposely booked a day tour that make a stop here so I can visit this historic place and try the baked curry– all that to be turned down upon entry with no explanation??? The day I visited, the nice host lady greeted me and my friend, asked if we’re here for lunch or the tour. We wanted to eat lunch first (it was around 14.00) and...

The Old Moji Mitsui Club is located on the right side of Mojiko Station across the street. Mojiko is lined with old-fashioned Western-style buildings centered around the first pier, and one of the closest ones to the station is the Old Moji Mitsui Club. It is even more famous because it is said that Einstein and his wife stayed here. The first floor is a restaurant, and the second floor exhibits 2...

You can pay ¥150 to visit the second story where you can see the room where Albert Einstein and his wife stayed as well as a large exhibit on the author Hayashi Fumiko. English translations are available for the exhibits on Einstein, but is very sparse for the rooms dedicated to Hayashi Fumiko. Her exhibit is very detailed and I was wishing I was more familiar with her work.

Although Mojiko is visited by many Korean people, there is no Korean translations for visitors in this buildings or others. I was lucky to read Japanese and English. But you shouldn't ignore people from other nationalities who often visit the area. You have to take off your shoes if you want to see the second floor....
