Seeing this Synagogue was my first time in my life I entered a Jewish church. I was so intensely moved by the beauty, the history, the colors of the inner sanctuary and the serenity of the space. The pictures I took do not do it justice. The colors used in the ceiling and the adornments were vibrant , almost pulsating. And hardly anyone was there. It was a shock that during services that the women...

We were a little disappointed about this as we were only visiting the city on that day, hence the 3 stars. I was pleased to see the armed guards outside the Synagogue; very necessary at this time! I would love to visit the Synagogue again if I...

Very beautiful, huge synagogue with a museum on the second floor telling the history of synagogue and getto nearby. It was a pleasant surprise to learn, on the plaque at the entrance to the mechitza, that the armchairs in the mechitza had been restored by the Ferragamo family.

Very beautiful synagogue. I didn't like the fact that I couldn't bring my purse with me. They made me check it in which I did not like and they told me to bring my wallet which I did not like. I think it has some interesting history and the architecture of the building is fantastic. They were hardly anybody in the museum and if there were people they were Jewish solely.
In summer, arrive by 9 AM to avoid crowds and the heat. In winter, check the museum’s events page for free holiday concerts inside.
