How Baby-Friendly is Temple of Olympian Zeus?

50%Baby-Friendly
View Map

What makes it 50% Baby-Friendly: Babies enter free, yet gravel paths and the ban on strollers make carriers essential, and toilets lack changing tables, so long visits in heat can be tiring for carers.

(from 29,621 reviews)

Positives:

  • Baby enters free: Children under 5 have free admission; only adults pay.
  • Flat, accessible paths: Most area paths are level and include ramps; a baby carrier works best.

Challenges:

  • Limited shade: Few shaded areas inside the site; bring hats and a sunshade.
  • No baby-changing facilities: Toilets lack changing tables; pack a portable changing mat and wipes.

The columns are impressive but was mostly covered in scaffolding and there is not much else to see. The problem is the price 20 euros per adult seems excessive compared to the other sites. This can be done in 15 minutes and is priced to the same as much more expensive sites.

Ruins of the temple are interesting, but the main attraction is the view at sunset. Little difficult to reach the top with rough uneven ground. 20 Euros a head to enter. Don't expect to be alone. Many tour busses.

These columns aren’t just big — they were meant to connect heaven and earth… a must see after acropolis and agora, but be careful not to go when it’s too hot because it’s mostly open space.

Not worth 20 euros. The museum isn't even operational. There's very little information. It's easily seen from outside of it. I would highly recommend against paying 20 euros to walk in there. Maybe if it was 5 Euros it would be worth it. Maybe.

Early early. Crowds were good. Museum is currently closed and under reconstruction. You do not need a guide. Follow the leader and read all the signs. It is not handicap accessible as the elevators were closed due to maintenance and have been.
