What makes it 89% Couple-Friendly: Shaded paths, ponds and peak-bloom rhododendrons create a romantic stroll, and plentiful benches invite sunset sitting; the only notable gap is the absence of on-site cafés for a shared drink.
Why 1-2 hours visit duration is ideal for couple trip: A relaxed walk through the three ponds, rhododendron beds and photo spots takes about 60–90 minutes.
Self-guided garden tour:
Follow the UVic walking tour map through three ponds, rhododendron collections and companion plantings.
Tip: Download the PDF map from the UVic site and follow the numbered markers on site.
Romantic bench stop:
Sit together on the azalea-framed bench by the southwest pond to watch dragonflies and listen to frogs.
Tip: Enter near the Multifaith Centre and walk west along the winding path to find the bench.
Peak-bloom photo walk:
Photograph towering rhododendrons and thousands of azalea blooms in mid-April to mid-May.
Tip: Arrive at dawn for soft light and avoid harsh midday shadows on the flowers.
Sunset stroll:
Watch the setting sun backlight the blooms from west-facing benches around the ponds.
Tip: Plan to reach the southwest pond within an hour of closing for the best backlit colors.

This place is amazing - so quiet and peaceful. The plantings are almost the opposite of Butchard - greens of all types vs flowers. When we went there were very few other visitors. Very nice for us but I hope that doesn't signify a lack of interest. Right now, the gardens are well maintained with excellent paths and occasional maps (essential as any useful landmarks are hidden by the greenery)

Nice green garden. Free entrance fee. Unfortunately when I visited, the person was smoking weed:( hope to be smoke free.
Visit mid-April to mid-May for peak rhododendron and azalea blooms. Late summer offers quiet green paths. In fall, colorful foliage frames the ponds.
