What makes it 53% Baby-Friendly: Stroller access is fine only in the park and maze; castle corridors have multiple stairs, and no listed changing tables or nursing rooms, so visits with a baby demand carrying and advance toilet planning.
Why 2-3 hours visit duration is ideal for with baby: Time for a leisurely park stroll, picnic and optional maze without rushing with a baby.
Park stroll & picnic:
Walk wide gravel paths in the English garden and rest on lawns under ancient trees.
Tip: Pack a small blanket and snacks; use shaded areas for comfortable baby naps.
Hedge maze tour:
Navigate the 1873 hornbeam maze with simple stroller-friendly paths.
Tip: Visit April–October when the maze is open; baby enters free.
Bat-spotting at ice cellars:
At dusk by the old ice storage, watch for bats circling the building.
Tip: Hold your baby close and keep quiet; best between May and September.

Seemed an innocuous castle but once we got in we learned just how involved it was for WW1 history. Also a great demonstration of what happens with successive generations, and what must be done. Beautiful grounds, wonderful castle, and an excellent recording of the human condition over multiple centuries.

The garden of the castle is quite pleasant, full of trees and trails to explore. We didn't visit the castle, but the architecture from the outside is impressive. There is no entry fee for the garden and there toilets available. Recommended

Very nice castle, well preserved and with a fine collection of art.

Really beautiful gardens and view from the outside. It’s free if you just explore the gardens, didn’t go inside. Worth viewing from the outside. There’s safe parking area. Would definitely recommend visiting if you’re wanting to do something for free. You do have to pay to go inside though. Very peaceful here.
April–October: maze is open and gardens are in full bloom. Spring: cherry blossoms in the English garden. Autumn: colorful leaves and cooler temperatures. Winter: indoor castle visit is quieter but check stroller access with staff.
