What makes it 86% Couple-Friendly: Waterfront picnic tables, sunset walk to Point Cartwright and easy kayak launch create a romantic outing; lack of on-site cafés or evening lighting slightly lowers appeal.
Why 2-3 hours visit duration is ideal for couple trip: Couples can enjoy a picnic, sunset walk and short kayak trip without rushing.
Riverside Picnic:
Use shaded tables under sails along the Mooloolah River bank.
Tip: Bring a picnic rug, reusable utensils and seasonal produce for a fresh meal.
Sunset River Walk:
Follow the smooth, wheelchair-friendly path to Point Cartwright lighthouse.
Tip: Wear comfortable shoes and start 30 minutes before sunset for the best glow.
Kayaking & Paddleboarding:
Launch from the two-lane boat ramp and floating pontoon to explore calm river waters.
Tip: Rent gear at nearby Buddina Beach, or bring your own to avoid weekend shortages.
Wildlife Photography:
Spot egrets, kingfishers and mangrove habitats along the water's edge.
Tip: Use a telephoto lens and visit late afternoon for soft, directional light.

Great place to sit, have a BBQ, and watch the world go by. Great views of the ocean and across the ocean, Parkyn Parade Wharf and trawler boats. Good car par, running water, tree's for shade.

A lovely spot to spend some time with large grassy area and scenery. Boats at moorings, the mouth of the Maroochy, a short walk to the cliff top and lighthouse and views down to the surf beach.

Parks for the people. Well done, Sunshine Coast Council and (staff). This slice of the Sunshine Coast is so special. With the perfect backdrop being the marina and gateway to it, La Balsa Park offers a truly unique park experience. A variety of aquatic craft, coming and going, made our walk a little slower, stopping often to take in the views. Parking ✔️ Pathways ✔️ Playgrounds ✔️ Toilets ✔️ BBQ's...

Very nice open plan park, clean and dog friendly with clean amenities. Outdoor showers available, for washing off all that beautiful salt water you can access for an amazing swim. BBQ areas are also kept clean and are well maintained. Parking is ample, but can get busy as this place is exceptional to visit.
In summer, go early or at dusk and use shade sails to avoid heat. Autumn and spring bring mild temps for longer strolls. Winter water is calm for clear paddles.
