What makes it 88% Kids-Friendly: Children get a pirate-ship playground, calm waist-deep river, grass for ball games and child kayaks; parents must supervise because the play area is unfenced and water is only metres away.
Why 2-3 hours visit duration is ideal for with kids: Provides enough time for playground play, a river splash, a picnic and a short paddle without rushing young children.
Children’s playground:
Let kids climb the “pirate ship” fort, slide down slides and swing in the sandpit.
Tip: Bring spare clothes and supervise on the unfenced equipment.
Shallow river swimming:
Kids can paddle in waist-deep, calm water near the shoreline.
Tip: Wear water shoes and bring towels for quick dry-offs.
Family BBQ picnic:
Use built-in barbecue grills next to shaded picnic tables for a riverside cook-out.
Tip: Pack charcoal, utensils and easy-to-serve snacks.
Kid-size kayak hire:
Rent child-size kayaks from Swan Boat Hire and explore the river with parents.
Tip: Reserve craft online on weekends and use provided life jackets.
Beginner stand-up paddleboards:
Try short SUP sessions under parental guidance on calm water.
Tip: Book 30-minute slots and bring sun protection.

The island is okay with access via the single bridge from Bradman Ave. There's a small playground, a few beaches, and plenty of fishing spots on the island. Aside from a few picnic spots and BBQ areas, not a huge else to explore. The Conservation Reserve was pleasant although quite limited, especially with tidal times.

Excelent place to enjoy the beach with little kids. The depth of the water is very low and you can walk to the middle of the waterway. There's a kids area, BBQs and toilets. Definitely a great place to enjoy a sunny Sunday with the whole family.

Lovely spot for a (small) beachfront picnic. The kids loved the children’s playground, grassed area to run around and even do some fishing!

Chambers Island is a lovely retreat for family gatherings and for the casual fisherman. My advice is for families to grab some hot chips at the store across the road from the bridge to Chambers Island and enjoy some time playing on the cool pirate ship and swings. There are some showers too if you fancy a swim in the river.

Very chilled little island that is a top spot to cast a line or have a picnic. Has a playground and toilets. Plenty of room to spread out.
In summer, arrive before 10 am to avoid midday heat and use natural shade. After heavy rain, check river flow for safe paddling.
