What makes it 83% Couple-Friendly: Couples enjoy sunset picnics, short beach strolls and hire-a-BBQ boats for a private cruise; the island is peaceful but unlit after dusk and has no restaurants, so bring food and leave early.
Why 2-3 hours visit duration is ideal for couple trip: A 2–3 hour visit lets you picnic, explore the shore, and enjoy one water activity without rushing.
Riverside picnic at sunset:
Use built-in grills in picnic shelters by the Maroochy River.
Tip: Bring your own food and blanket and arrive an hour before sunset for best light.
Beach stroll and swim:
Walk the 500 m sandy loop and cool off in calm, shallow river water.
Tip: Clip on water shoes to protect feet from shells.
Stand-up paddleboarding:
Hire a SUP from Swan Boat Hire on the mainland.
Tip: Book online in advance and choose a calm morning tide.
Romantic BBQ boat cruise:
Rent a self-drive boat with a BBQ deck to cook on the water.
Tip: Pack easy-cook items and battery-powered lights for evening ambiance.
Full-moon yoga events:
Join candlelit yin yoga under the stars at Maroochy Sailing Club.
Tip: Check event dates ahead and bring warm layers.

The island is okay with access via the single bridge from Bradman Ave. There's a small playground, a few beaches, and plenty of fishing spots on the island. Aside from a few picnic spots and BBQ areas, not a huge else to explore. The Conservation Reserve was pleasant although quite limited, especially with tidal times.

Excelent place to enjoy the beach with little kids. The depth of the water is very low and you can walk to the middle of the waterway. There's a kids area, BBQs and toilets. Definitely a great place to enjoy a sunny Sunday with the whole family.

Lovely spot for a (small) beachfront picnic. The kids loved the children’s playground, grassed area to run around and even do some fishing!

Chambers Island is a lovely retreat for family gatherings and for the casual fisherman. My advice is for families to grab some hot chips at the store across the road from the bridge to Chambers Island and enjoy some time playing on the cool pirate ship and swings. There are some showers too if you fancy a swim in the river.

Very chilled little island that is a top spot to cast a line or have a picnic. Has a playground and toilets. Plenty of room to spread out.
Visit Oct–Mar to catch warm evenings and spring bird migrations. Start early to avoid peak heat and mosquitoes.
