What makes it 65% Baby-Friendly: Shade trees, picnic shelters and pram-friendly bridge suit babies, yet paths are bumpy, toilets lack change tables and no kiosk or nursing room exists, so pack mats, food and water.
Why 2–3 hours visit duration is ideal for with baby: Enough time for a gentle walk, picnic, playground play and river paddling without tiring the baby.
Shaded picnic and play:
Set up under a covered shelter or grove of palms with a play mat.
Tip: Bring a portable shade cloth and soft mat for baby comfort.
Gentle riverside walk:
Follow the firm sand track across the footbridge for pram-friendly views.
Tip: Stop frequently for baby snacks or naps under trees.
Playground fun:
Use the toddler swing and small slides at the children’s play area.
Tip: Stay close to support crawlers; the equipment is unfenced.
Shallow beach paddling:
Let baby paddle in waist-deep, calm water at low tide.
Tip: Check tide times and bring a small float or splash mat.

The island is okay with access via the single bridge from Bradman Ave. There's a small playground, a few beaches, and plenty of fishing spots on the island. Aside from a few picnic spots and BBQ areas, not a huge else to explore. The Conservation Reserve was pleasant although quite limited, especially with tidal times.

Excelent place to enjoy the beach with little kids. The depth of the water is very low and you can walk to the middle of the waterway. There's a kids area, BBQs and toilets. Definitely a great place to enjoy a sunny Sunday with the whole family.

Lovely spot for a (small) beachfront picnic. The kids loved the children’s playground, grassed area to run around and even do some fishing!

Chambers Island is a lovely retreat for family gatherings and for the casual fisherman. My advice is for families to grab some hot chips at the store across the road from the bridge to Chambers Island and enjoy some time playing on the cool pirate ship and swings. There are some showers too if you fancy a swim in the river.

Very chilled little island that is a top spot to cast a line or have a picnic. Has a playground and toilets. Plenty of room to spread out.
Visit in the morning to avoid peak sun and heat. Check tide charts for best low-tide paddling. In summer bring extra sunshade and water; in cooler months pack a light blanket.
