The jetty is open day and night, has safety rails, nearby toilets and licence fishing, so a solo visitor can photograph sunrise, watch seals or fish with minimal planning.
Why 1-2 hours visit duration is ideal for solo trip: Allows time to fish, watch seals, and capture sunrise or sunset photos without rushing.
Rod-and-line fishing:
Cast off the pier to catch snapper, whiting or squid.
Tip: Buy a Victorian fishing licence online before arrival and rent gear nearby.
Wildlife and seal watching:
Look under the jetty for fish schools and playful seals.
Tip: Stand at the pier tip at low tide for best seal sightings.
Coastal photography:
Frame the jetty against sunrise or sunset for dramatic shots.
Tip: Arrive 30 minutes before sunrise to set up and avoid crowds.
Pier to Pub open-water swim:
Join the 1.2 km race from jetty to beach if you visit in January.
Tip: Enter online early; bring goggles and a brightly coloured swim cap.

Lots of people fishing, pretty place

Good fishing, but that's about it. You can walk out on the new jetty and there is a bit of the old jetty with some history plaques.

The views were great. Fishing place if you like to do that. Just at the entrance there is an Art bazar n a restaurant to chill n relax.

Nice quiet place for some nice photos

A decent place. I don’t know what but there was a weird smell at the jetty. Nothing much to see here, the only thing you’ll find would be people fishing on the jetty. I wouldn’t mind if this place was skipped from my next day trip to Great Ocean Road.
