Children can fish licence-free, spot seals and explore rock pools, yet parents must supervise constantly because of unguarded drop-offs and the nearest playground and toilets are 2 minutes away.
Why 2-3 hours visit duration is ideal for with kids: Allows time for fishing, rockpool exploring, wildlife spotting and a snack break at a relaxed pace.
Kids' Fishing Off the Jetty:
Children under 18 fish free off the jetty; adults need a Victorian licence.
Tip: Bring spare bait, simple rods and check tide charts before you go.
Rockpool Exploration:
At low tide, shallow pools near the jetty hold crabs, starfish and snails.
Tip: Wear water shoes and bring a bucket for collecting shells carefully.
Seal and Fish Spotting:
Watch seals play and fish school under the pier pylons.
Tip: Go at dawn or dusk when seals are most active close to shore.
Whale Watching:
Between May and September, migrating whales often pass near the pier.
Tip: Wrap kids in warm layers and bring binoculars and a thermos.

Lots of people fishing, pretty place

Good fishing, but that's about it. You can walk out on the new jetty and there is a bit of the old jetty with some history plaques.

The views were great. Fishing place if you like to do that. Just at the entrance there is an Art bazar n a restaurant to chill n relax.

Nice quiet place for some nice photos

A decent place. I don’t know what but there was a weird smell at the jetty. Nothing much to see here, the only thing you’ll find would be people fishing on the jetty. I wouldn’t mind if this place was skipped from my next day trip to Great Ocean Road.
