Positives:

  • Small group access: Trail permits cap groups at six hikers, so you can explore without crowds.
  • Solo booking ease: Helicopter and kayak tours offer solo seats and shared arrangements.

Challenges:

  • Limited facilities: Camping sites have only pit toilets, no potable water or showers—bring all supplies.
  • Safety hazards: Watch for crocodiles in mangrove channels and stingers in the water; follow park alerts.

This is a great hike. Very challenging in the warmer months, with plenty of hills. Total elevation gain over the trail is 1500m. Well worth doing.

Best hike of my life! It was heavy but gorgeous, we did it in 3 days and 2 nights but wished we had longer. So many different sceneries in one hike. Bring light equipment. We took a lift with John from Absolute North Charters. John does his work with passion and was extremely helpful for us. The hike would have not be the same without John or the absolute north app.
