What makes it 62% Kids-Friendly: There are child fares for day cruises and Zoe Bay easy walk with toilets and picnic tables, but no drinking water, playgrounds or medical help, and crocodiles and stingers demand constant adult supervision.
Why 1-2 days visit duration is ideal for with kids: One full day covers a cruise and beach walk; two days allow a relaxed pace and extra stops for young kids.
Hinchinbrook Explorer day-boat cruise:
Cruise the channel to Deluge Inlet with wildlife commentary and a beach lunch stop.
Tip: Bring binoculars for bird and turtle spotting; life-jackets and child gear are provided.
Zoe Bay & Mulligan Falls day trip:
Ferry from Cardwell to Zoe Bay then a 1 hr walk to a freshwater pool at Mulligan Falls.
Tip: Pack a picnic and water shoes; the trail is sandy and can be slippery near the waterfall.
Guided bushwalk for older kids:
Join a 1–2 hr eco tour that teaches children about local plants and animals.
Tip: Book in advance for groups of mixed ages; children under 8 may find it tiring.
Beach snorkeling at camp beaches:
Snorkel shallow fringing reefs close to shore with your own gear.
Tip: Stay in calm bays; watch for currents and wear stinger suits in summer.

This is a great hike. Very challenging in the warmer months, with plenty of hills. Total elevation gain over the trail is 1500m. Well worth doing.

Hinchinbrook, Gods gift to Aussie nature and fishing nirvana.

Best hike of my life! It was heavy but gorgeous, we did it in 3 days and 2 nights but wished we had longer. So many different sceneries in one hike. Bring light equipment. We took a lift with John from Absolute North Charters. John does his work with passion and was extremely helpful for us. The hike would have not be the same without John or the absolute north app.

Australia's own Jurassic park what a beautiful place to visit
Visit April–September in dry season. In summer (Oct–Mar), stinger risk is high; wear protective suits and check alerts.
