What makes it 39% Baby-Friendly: A flat picnic spot near the car park allows brief pram use, but prams cannot handle main trails; with no toilets, shade or change facilities, carers must carry the infant and essentials, making longer visits uncomfortable.
Note: Mount Taylor Nature Reserve is 39% Baby-Friendly. You may want to consider other Baby-Friendly Things to Do in Canberra for a more suitable experience.
Why 1-2 hours visit duration is ideal for with baby: Gives time for a picnic, short walks and baby breaks without over-tiring the family.
Picnic at Waldock Street Car Park:
Set up at the flat picnic tables near the Waldock Street car park.
Tip: Use the sealed access road for your pram. Arrive early for a quieter spot.
Pram-friendly Stroll:
Walk a few meters along the access road to feel the bush atmosphere.
Tip: Stay close to the car park to avoid gravel sections unsuitable for prams.
Baby-wearing Bush Walk:
Carry your baby in a sling onto the fire trail for a short bush immersion.
Tip: Limit the walk to a few hundred metres to avoid steep sections.
Wildlife Spotting:
Scan the open areas for kangaroos and magpies near the picnic spot.
Tip: Bring a simple wildlife checklist and point out animals as you walk.

Been hiking and running around here a few times on my holiday in Canberra. So many kangaroos, great views and an amazing hill if you like those things.

I used to live at the foot of Mount Taylor for around half a year and totally enjoyed the area, great view, the walk and wildlife. That was the outset of Covid time. Good and easy walk, return trip is 4km from the entry on Sulwood Drive to the top of Mt Taylor. Plenty of car parking spots at the entry. Nice view along the track. Be aware that there is no toilet facility over there.
In summer, pack sun hat, sunscreen and 2 L of water; start before 10 AM to avoid heat. In winter, dress in layers and bring a warm blanket for your baby.
