What makes it 91% Kids-Friendly: Two inclusive playgrounds, wading pool, tide-pool beach and big lawns fill a whole day; lifeguarded Colman Pool and many restrooms help parents, though rocky shore still demands close supervision.
Why 2-3 hours visit duration is ideal for with kids: Gives families time to play at the playground, explore tide pools and swim without rushing young kids.
Inclusive Playground & Zip-Line Bridges:
Let kids climb, swing and ride the cable bridge in the south playground.
Tip: Go early to grab a bench spot and watch children enjoy both swings and sand tables.
Seasonal Wading Pool:
Cool off in the shallow wading pool by the playground during summer.
Tip: Check city website for daily hours and bring a towel and waterproof sandals.
Beach Exploration & Tide-Pool Play:
Hunt for crabs, sea stars and shells along the rocky shoreline at low tide.
Tip: Bring rubber boots and check local tide charts so kids don’t get caught by rising water.
Picnic & Playdate:
Use free tables near the playground or reserve a shelter for a half-day celebration.
Tip: For no-fee seating, arrive before noon; for a shaded spot, book a shelter online weeks ahead.
Family Swim at Colman Pool:
Swim together in the heated saltwater pool with a shallow end and diving board.
Tip: Buy tickets at the pool; visit on Fridays for the extra waterslide (small fee applies).

Great park for either forest trails or the beach. The dogs love it there... it really is a classic Seattle spot with the ferries running in the background and all that... kinda feels like movies have been shot from here. If you're not 'from around here' (lol) then maybe keep your head on a swivel after dark. I mean, I'll go there alone after dark and I wouldn't call it a dangerous spot, per sē, bu...

Beautiful park. There are so many trails. We came to find the troll named "Way of the Bird." But I found so much more. There is a swimming pool, ball fields, picnic area's . Amazing views. Ferry dock. Kayaking. Bird watching.

This was an absolutely beautiful experience. We went on a 2.5 mile walk here in the park and along the beach. Plenty people out doing barbecue and just hanging out. Beautiful views. Plenty restrooms along the walk. We put our feet in the water and it was COLD but felt so good on the joints. Can walk, run, bike, scooter and walk dogs on the path.

He gave us several tips about the park, as I told him we had never been there. We talked about other Seattle parks too! Haven't spent a lot of time in West Seattle, but this park made me fall in love with West Seattle! Great, long trail on the c...
