What makes it 84% Couple-Friendly: Bluff-top sunsets, reserved picnic shelters and a heated saltwater pool create low-cost romantic moments, but summer crowds near play areas and ferry dock lessen privacy at peak hours.
Why 2-3 hours visit duration is ideal for couple trip: 2-3 hours lets you hike the bluff, picnic by the shore, and swim at Colman Pool without rushing.
Sunset Beach & Bluff Trail Walk:
Follow the 1.85-mile loop from the rocky shore up the bluff for Puget Sound panoramas.
Tip: Start 30 minutes before sunset to catch ferry lights and bird silhouettes.
Wildlife Watching at the Seawall:
Stand north of Colman Pool to scan for orcas, seals, and porpoises.
Tip: Bring binoculars in fall–winter for the best chance to spot resident orcas.
Bluffside Picnic:
Use free picnic tables on the north bluff for a waterfront meal.
Tip: Pack a blanket and arrive before midday; tables fill quickly in summer.
Hand-Carry Boat Launch:
Launch your own kayak or SUP from the south shoreline for a private water adventure.
Tip: Aim for high tide to make launch easier on the rocky beach.
Heated Saltwater Swim:
Swim laps or float in the 50 m Colman Pool overlooking Puget Sound.
Tip: Drop-in lanes cost $8 per adult; check Friday schedules for the waterslide.

Great park for either forest trails or the beach. The dogs love it there... it really is a classic Seattle spot with the ferries running in the background and all that... kinda feels like movies have been shot from here. If you're not 'from around here' (lol) then maybe keep your head on a swivel after dark. I mean, I'll go there alone after dark and I wouldn't call it a dangerous spot, per sē, bu...

I entered the park from one of the parking lots and walked through what felt and looked like a forest from beyond. Seeing several different paths to walk I followed my GPS to walk down t...

Beautiful park. There are so many trails. We came to find the troll named "Way of the Bird." But I found so much more. There is a swimming pool, ball fields, picnic area's . Amazing views. Ferry dock. Kayaking. Bird watching.

This was an absolutely beautiful experience. We went on a 2.5 mile walk here in the park and along the beach. Plenty people out doing barbecue and just hanging out. Beautiful views. Plenty restrooms along the walk. We put our feet in the water and it was COLD but felt so good on the joints. Can walk, run, bike, scooter and walk dogs on the path.

He gave us several tips about the park, as I told him we had never been there. We talked about other Seattle parks too! Haven't spent a lot of time in West Seattle, but this park made me fall in love with West Seattle! Great, long trail on the c...
Visit in fall–winter for prime orca watching. In summer, head to Colman Pool early to avoid lines and wear water shoes for tide-pool exploring.
