We took the bus all the way almost to the top and went up top with the front trail. I wouldn't recommend this shortcut if you're not fit for hiking or not wearing trail/running shoes. The trail is pretty stiff, quite straight up, dry dirt and small rocks, it was short though, about 10 minutes straight up hill. The view was breathtaking, you could even see the golden gate bridge. Must visit the place when you are nearby San Francisco. Very beautiful view of San Francisco. It is difficult to find parking. It is almost always windy so be prepared for it. If you have telescope than it is good to see long distance object and surrounding cities.
