What makes it 70% Couple-Friendly: Riverfront sunsets, free summer concerts and reservable picnic shelters provide easy romantic moments; limited lighting and cool breezes after dusk mean most pairs leave before late night.
Why 2-3 hours visit duration is ideal for couple trip: Allows time to stroll the riverfront, visit memorials, and enjoy a sunset picnic.
Waterfront Stroll:
Walk side by side along the Niagara River on the paved path past memorials and gardens.
Tip: Start near the Band Shell and follow the river north for the best views.
Sunset Photography:
Photograph the river and memorials as the sky changes color.
Tip: Arrive 30 minutes before sunset and use the footbridge for unique angles.
Easy Listening Concerts:
Attend free Thursday-night concerts at the Band Shell (June–August).
Tip: Bring a blanket and claim a spot early on the grassy hill.
Picnic at a Shelter:
Reserve one of two covered shelters overlooking the river for a private meal.
Tip: Call the park office at least 10 days in advance to book.
Fishing Together:
Cast from the stone-dust slipway into the Niagara River for bass or perch.
Tip: Bring two rods and share bait; no fishing license needed for catch-and-release.

When I was a kid this was known as Fisherman’s park then it changed to Veterans park, I could find my dad here every day of the week fishing or just admiring the beauty and watching the mighty Niagara river…This park means so much to me seeing the names of all the veterans who paid the ultimate sacrifice… What a well groomed and manicured park ❤️

We were on our way to Niagara Falls and I spotted a huge EGA and was like "whoa, what was that doing there", so I had to stop. The park itself was nice, but the Marine Corps portion of it was my favorite.

Beautiful and spacious area to get lost for the day by yourself or with your family. Restrooms available. Lovely area to go fishing. Lots of parking area. Lovely playground area for kids ages 2-14. Lots of shaded areas along with areas in the sun.

This is a really well kept little park, with a couple of pavilions (one nicely separated by an old slip and trees), a playground, an exercise round, and a small performance stage. It has a fishing walk on the slip, and plenty of covered space on the river proper, right off the parking area, making it easily accessible for those with mobility issues. While I have never attended, it seems like they...

The dock/boardwalk inlet area often clogs with debris espicially in the early spring. It tends to be taken outof service the fall of each year. I have seen people fishing here. No boat launch in this park (are oth...
From June to August, free concerts light up summer evenings. In fall, the riverfront foliage turns golden. Dress warmly for winter visits, as winds off the river can be brisk.
