What makes it 70% Kids-Friendly: A fenced playground, open soccer fields, bike path, and boat viewing keep children under 12 active, but proximity to deep river water and seasonal restrooms demand constant adult supervision.
Why 2-3 hours visit duration is ideal for with kids: Allows time for playground play, picnic, short walk, and boat watching before young kids tire.
Playground fun:
Let kids climb, slide, and swing in the fenced play area.
Tip: Go early to avoid crowds and bring hand sanitizer for the equipment.
Riverside picnic:
Use picnic tables or spread a blanket under shady trees by the river.
Tip: Pack a cooler with easy snacks and bring a picnic blanket for extra comfort.
Field games:
Play soccer or toss a frisbee in the open grass fields.
Tip: Bring your own ball or frisbee and set up simple goals with cones or backpacks.
Nature trail exploration:
Walk mown paths through grassy areas and light woods.
Tip: Wear closed-toe shoes and look for songbirds and butterflies along the way.
Boat watching:
Stand at the boat ramp to watch powerboats and sailboats pass.
Tip: Bring a pair of binoculars or a camera to capture boats and river wildlife.

Good for boaters but the upkeep on any of the bathrooms is nonexistent. Even the portable ones are terrible. Kite festival 2025 didn’t even inspire a deep clean. Whoever is responsible for park maintenance needs to do their job. What a shame to represent your town this way

Gratwick Park is one of my happy places. Very peaceful other than the occasional cry of the gulls. Today watched ducks partying on ice flows headed towards the Falls. Much busier in the summer with free concerts and the boaters. Spectacular spot for July 4th fireworks in all directions. Pet friendly. Restrooms open seasonally.

If you enjoy time beside water while sitting on your car...this is a lovely place. You can also have a walk beside water but there not much option to do so. The breeze, wave, sight and sound of Niagara river crushing on stone/shore makes this amazing. There are shades too for enjoying time at this park.
Restrooms available June–October; spring trails may be muddy so pack waterproof shoes; fall brings colorful foliage along the riverbank.
