What makes it 44% Baby-Friendly: You can push a stroller to the sand edge and view turtles, but lack of diaper stations, shade, and restrooms makes more than a short, well-prepared stop uncomfortable for babies.
Note: Laniakea Beach is 44% Baby-Friendly. You may want to consider other Baby-Friendly Things to Do in Hawaii for a more suitable experience.
Why 2-4 hours visit duration is ideal for with baby: Enough time to spot turtles, relax with a picnic, and let your baby play without rushing.
Shoreline turtle watching:
Observe Hawaiian green sea turtles basking on the sand from a safe distance.
Tip: Stay behind ropes and keep at least 10 ft (3 m) away; morning and late afternoon are best for clear views.
Beach picnic under shade:
Set up a pop-up sun tent and enjoy snacks by the water.
Tip: Bring a lightweight tent, plenty of water, and pack snacks in advance since no food vendors are on site.
Sand play for your baby:
Let your little one crawl or sit on the soft sand under supervision.
Tip: Bring sand toys and keep your baby in the shade to avoid sun exposure.

We drove around on the north shore and ended up at this wonderful place where we saw tortoises. They were crossing over the beach into the water. There were a couple of on sight guides and helpers to make sure that tortoises were protected and we're able to reach the water safely. It was an incredible sight to see and our family loved seeing them go across and to the water. Totally recommend doing...

Too sandy for snorkeling but a nice place to relax and swim. The pillbox trail isn’t far so we did that first and got a nice panoramic view of the beach.

Very chilled beach. Many people come to see the turtles resting at the beach. It's pretty awesome and relaxing. Parking is limited, and you may encounter the "Turtle Traffic " as well due to the popularity. It is better to plan accordingly.

LaniaLanibeach is such a beautiful spot! The water was crystal clear when we visited, and the beach had a really relaxed, peaceful vibe. We felt so lucky that day — we got to see a sea turtle resting right on the beach! It was such an amazing experience to see one up close in the wild. Definitely a great place to stop by if you’re around the North Shore.
May–October offers calmer water and peak turtle sightings. Arrive before 9 AM to secure parking and avoid the strongest sun.
