What makes it 47% Baby-Friendly: Parents can stroll paved lookout paths and rest under pavilions, but no nursing rooms or changing tables and heavy surf mean extra gear and caution are essential for infants.
Note: Ho'okipa Beach Park is 47% Baby-Friendly. You may want to consider other Baby-Friendly Things to Do in Hawaii for a more suitable experience.
Why 1-3 hours visit duration is ideal for with baby: Allows time for a shaded picnic, stroller-friendly walk, and rest stops with a baby without rushing.
Picnic Under Pavilion:
Set up at one of three covered pavilions with tables and grills.
Tip: Bring your own blanket and portable changing pad for feeding and diaper changes in the shade.
Scenic Upper Lookout Walk:
Stroll on the paved path above the beach for safe, baby-friendly views.
Tip: Use the upper parking lot to avoid stairs and keep your stroller on smooth concrete.
Use Rinse Showers & Water Fountains:
Wash off sand and refill bottles at outdoor rinse showers and ground-level taps.
Tip: Rinse baby’s feet and reusable bottles before heading home to keep your car clean.

Great place to view turtles and to watch kite surfers. I only recommend swimming and playing here for seasoned ocean goers. Great beach to bring a chair and watch wildlife and people. I've been visiting for 12 years. Great place to visit with locals and get a real feel for Maui. I recommend parking at the lowest lot and walking up the beach to see the turtles. This helps with traffic congestion.

You can sit down and enjoy the view of the ocean with amazing surfers and also the best spot to find green sea turtles on the shore.

Great beach. The ability to stay up top or go down on the beach is really nice. There are showers here. There are lots of surfers and people who know where they are going and what they're doing. Still great to visit and just chill.

Good parking and nice to sit and watch the surfers. It’s beautiful to look at because of the turtles and the ocean! But it is not a swimming beach. And it is good for surfing only if you are a well-seasoned surfer. Lots of rocks at the shore!

Good parking, easy to walk down. We went just to see the turtles resting on the beach which was easy because there are a ton just laying there plain to see. Photos are good to take and the beach looked clean although we didn’t go on it. Not much else to say, but it is cool to see all the turtles just hanging out if you’re in the area.
Visit early in summer for gentler winds and cooler shade. In winter, arrive near sunset at the lookout to watch big-wave surfers from a safe distance.
