What makes it 63% Baby-Friendly: A paved creekside trail, visitor center shade, and picnic lawns suit strollers, but there are no changing tables, nursing rooms, or lifeguards, so diapering and safe water access take extra effort.
Why 0.5-1 day visit duration is ideal for with baby: Allows time for a stroller-friendly hike, picnic, and relaxing by the falls without rushing a baby.
Onion Creek Hike & Bike Trail:
Follow the 2.8-mile paved trail for easy stroller access along the creek.
Tip: Bring sunshade for stroller and limit distance to match your baby’s nap schedule.
Smith Visitor Center:
Explore indoor interpretive displays and use the quiet seating area.
Tip: Feed or nap your baby on a blanket under the shaded porch if restrooms are full.
Shaded Picnic Near Visitor Center:
Use covered tables close to restrooms for easy changing and feeding.
Tip: Pack a portable changing pad and set up under cover for quick diaper changes.
Wading at Lower Falls Edge:
Stand at the shallow water’s edge for gentle baby water play.
Tip: Hold your baby securely or use a baby float and watch for slippery rocks.

Had a great time tent camping it was nice that there was power and running water. The fishing was great lots of good size cat fish. Bring a decent size extension cord if you want power in your tent. I had a 100-ft cord and it worked perfectly

My husband and I visited this park on a whim during our last trip to Austin to celebrate family. This park has been glued to my mind since we left. It wasn’t too hot, despite being summer in TX, thanks to the glorious amounts of shade in each area. I loved how grounding it was to be fully immersed in nature while walking the trails, exploring the creek, or diving into the swimming hole. Others at...

An amazing trails, it's easy to get around and has such beautiful sites, it was my first hike and I loved every bit of it. It also gives a history as you go through and it's really lovely so alhamdulillah for this trial. I felt safe and the people on the trails are very kind esp the workers. Thank you 🩷 it took the onion creek trail ( for hiking and bikes )

I had wanted to test my camping gear for a while and didn't know McKinney Falls state park was available right in my back yard! The staff was super friendly, the showers and bathrooms were clean (as clean as a park restroom can be) and the site offered no issues. Also the price to camp was really cheap! I'll definitely be back and going to try and plan a friends cabin weekend here at some point. H...

The campground were very nice and the access to Onion Creek to play in the water is wonderful. Unfortunately, we did not get to check out the trails. The staff, facilities, visitors center and all else was great. We'll be back for a v...
In spring and after rains Lower Falls flow is stronger—stick to the edge for baby play. In summer hike before 10 AM to avoid heat. Fall brings migrating birds near the Visitor Center.
