What makes it 72% Couple-Friendly: Couples get easy shared photos with Lennon statue and can sit on the music bench, and pubs create date ambience, yet the attraction lasts minutes and offers no privacy, shade, or restrooms.
Why 10–20 minutes visit duration is ideal for couple trip: Time to read engraved bricks, take photos, and rest on the bench.
Selfie on the Wall of Fame:
Strike a pose together against the 1,801 engraved bricks listing every artist who played the original Cavern Club.
Tip: Use a wide-angle setting to capture both the statue of John Lennon and the wall in one frame.
Relax on the music-themed bench:
Pause your walk on Mathew Street by sitting on the built-in bench shaped like a piano keyboard.
Tip: Time your stop for late afternoon when nearby cafes offer takeaway coffee to sip while you rest.
Join a Beatles walking tour:
Book a 2-hour guided walk that stops at the Wall of Fame, the Cavern Club, and other Beatles landmarks.
Tip: Reserve online in advance for early-morning slots to enjoy the street before it fills up.

Walking down Mathew Street and reading all the band names was really neat. What a great piece of history here.

We were there in the afternoon, it might be more vibrant in the evening, we actually liked the place when it was quiet and less crowded.

Iconic location at the heart of Liverpool's music scene. Matthew Street is home to the original entrance to the Cavern Club, lively bars and pubs and some interesting exhibits. Statues of John Lennon and Villa Black, a wall of records and the bricks engraved with names of all the artists and groups to have performed here make this location a must see for music fans. There's quite a bit to read on ...

I am honored to step into the Beatles hometown and the street where they start the band!

A cracking little bar, great atmosphere and reasonably priced. The staff were friendly and courteous, live music which had the place bouncing. The bar exits on to Mathew street which is always busy.
In summer, visit at dusk when live street music spills onto Mathew Street. In winter, bring a waterproof jacket and be cautious on damp cobbles.
