This exhibit focuses on Scotland in war. There is information laid out throughout that is easy to follow. It is well laid out. There are stairs to go up to the exhibit but I think there was an elevator.

The National War Museum in Edinburgh Castle is a really interesting place to explore. The exhibition is full of powerful stories and artifacts, and the main hall especially stands out. Definitely worth a visit!

The National War Museum is in included in your ticket for entrance to Edinburgh Castle. It is worth taking your time in here, there is a lot of information to absorb. It was really busy the day I visited, maybe to many people in a confined space. There is an excellent souvenir shop as well. I would have enjoyed it more if I didn't feel I was being pushed along by the crowds.

National War Museum is free when you buy ticket for castle because this museum is located inside the Castle boundary like other interesting points. The National War Museum it’s inside the castle area and you don’t need to buy extra ticket. It’s very interesting and mostly about the Scottish military and its role in Britain’s history but we liked it. There is a very informative video to watch on the first, the isles of the rest museum are narrow so can get very crowded. Be patient.
Summer brings longer opening hours but larger castle crowds; arrive early. Winter offers quieter galleries but shorter daylight and reduced castle hours—check closing times. Note closures on 25–26 Dec and 1 Jan.
