How Kids-Friendly is CERN?

81%Kids-Friendly
View Map

What makes it 81% Kids-Friendly: Kids aged 5–12 gain from hands-on workshops, lively science shows, and free entry, but the absence of play areas and 2-hour tours that demand attention may exhaust them, slightly lowering the family appeal.

(from 2,942 reviews)

Positives:

  • Free entry: All exhibitions, shows, tours, and workshops are free of charge.
  • Family-friendly facilities: Accessible lifts and toilets with baby-changing tables make moving around easy.

Challenges:

  • Workshop age limit: Children under 5 cannot join lab workshops, so plan alternative activities for your 3-year-old.
  • Tour length: Full guided tours last up to 2 hours and may be long for younger children.

Very interesting place, plenty to see and the presentations are great. Very close public transport access so very easy to get to. However I tried several times to get onto the guided tours and wasn't successful. The tickets dissapeared as soon as released. Maybe I choose a day which was too busy

CERN is a very interesting place to visit and highly recommended. It's free. It is best to go early, as it gets crowded between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Everything is clearly explained and easy to understand. Take your time with the interactive games, as they are very engaging. I spent about five hours there and also had lunch on site. Access is very easy, as you can reach it directly by tram 18.👍🏻🤓

Visiting CERN in Geneva was an incredible experience ✨. The tour is very dynamic and full of learning, with clear explanations adapted to several languages. I loved the practical exercises and interactive activities that make even the most complex concepts easy to understand. Truly a unique place where science feels close and inspiring. Highly recommended!
