What makes it 70% Kids-Friendly: Guided “Family Walk” tours, craft workshops and a summer camp turn 1700-era history into play for 7–12s, but fragile ruins and long text panels may bore very energetic children.
Why 2-3 hours visit duration is ideal for with kids: Allows time for a family tour, workshop, and exploring the ruins at a relaxed pace.
Family guided tour “A Family Walk through the Year 1700”:
Follow a story-driven route through the 18th-century streets with a guide who adapts to children’s interests.
Tip: Book online for weekend slots and arrive 10 minutes early to pick up headsets.
Hands-on family workshop:
Join art or dance workshops inspired by 1700s life, designed for parents and kids.
Tip: Workshops start Saturdays at 5 p.m.; reserve spots in advance on the official site.
Explore the archaeological ruins:
Walk above the excavated 1714 Ribera neighborhood and view original streets under glass.
Tip: Ask for the kid-friendly map at the desk and stop at each viewpoint to point out finds.

One of the most historical places I’ve ever been to. If you’re looking for something unique, want to witness ancient Barcelona this is the spot!

We stumbled upon this amazing place while exploring the surrounding streets and so glad we went in. A spectacular old market building housing fascinating remains of old Barcelona. It's free to wander round the upper level overlooking the old streets and for an extra €3, you can view the exhibition of all the artefacts that were discovered during the dig. A really interesting place.

Very interesting exhibition about the history of the city, with panels, the entry is free to just see the ruins from the above corridors, but the archaeological exhibit and the guided tour are not always available, better check the times and availability if you want to visit.

A beautiful museum telling the story of ancient Barcelona with ancient ruins well preserved. There are detailed writings throughout the museum telling the history of ancient Barcelona. It is free entry but you can pay for guided tours. A nice visit if you are in Barcelona.
In summer, family tours move to early evenings to beat the heat—check tour times online. In winter, enjoy warm indoor exhibits. Rain won’t cancel your visit since most displays are covered.
