How Kids-Friendly is Starfield Library?

Saturday kids workshops, family shows and picture books suit 4-12 yr olds, and entry is free, yet parents must hush playful voices and high shelves limit children’s independent browsing.

Considerations for visiting Starfield Library (with kids)

Positives:

  • No admission fee: Entry and events are free for all ages.
  • Natural lighting: Daytime sun lights up the space, ideal for children’s reading.
  • Family-friendly seating: Soft sofas and tables work well for both kids and adults.

Challenges:

  • Busy weekends: Saturday programs fill up quickly; consider weekdays.
  • Quiet atmosphere: Requires low voices; energetic kids may need regular snack breaks.
  • Limited devices: Only a few e-book stations available; expect a short queue.

Recommended visit duration: 1-2 hours

Why 1-2 hours visit duration is ideal for with kids: Enough time to browse shelves, join a kids program, and take photos without rushing.

it’s an interesting place to visit in Korea. coming off from the subway, it may not be that easy to navigate and find this place. once you get here, you will see the crowds. people are taking pictures everywhere. the coffee shop connecting to the library is a plus!

There are a lot of reviews for this location. I’ll only add that each corner and path offers a different photo perspective. I liked shooting photos from the chocolate store where I could see most of the library. On the main floor there are lots of influencers doing their thing.

One of the most popular tourist spot in Seoul and rightfully so because of how aesthetically pleasing the library was designed. I've been here several times and they decorate the place depending on the season. This visit in mid-spring however, did not have any exhibit or massive installation art in the middle. It's also refreshing to see the actual design without decors. There's not a lot of tou...

“ 별마당 도서관 “ Star field coex mall. Wow, this is such a beautiful and wonderful place. It's a perfect place to sit and read a book and think all afternoon with a delicious coffee. We who live in New York, whenever we visit Korea, we are proud of the kindness and loveliness of the Korean people, who support Korea's advanced infrastructure and public goods. We really admire our culture that we can p...

Absolutely breathtaking! It is one of the most beautiful libraries I’ve ever visited. The towering bookshelves, soft lighting, and modern design make it feel like you’ve stepped into a dream. It’s located right in the middle of a bustling mall, yet it feels calm and inspiring — a perfect place to pause, browse books, or just take in the atmosphere. A must-visit spot in Seoul, even if you’re not a ...
