Positives:

  • Easy access: Multiple subway exits lead directly to the stream at Gwanghwamun, City Hall and Dongdaemun.
  • Solo friendly: Quiet niches under bridges offer private spots to rest and reflect.

Challenges:

  • Weekend crowds: The stream fills up on Friday evenings and weekends, limiting quiet spots.
  • Limited seating: Benches are mostly under bridges; bring a foldable mat or stool for longer breaks.

Nice area to take a stroll or walk across the city without traffic lights. Sit by the river with food and drinks is also possible. Some parts of the river smells a little weird, but the sections 500m downstream onward are perfect and calm.

It's very tranquil, even the bustling of a busy city, just meters above the stream. Office worker on their way to work. People jogging and old folks just resting on the steps of the stream. If you are observing enough, you will notice wild lives around you. The stream is quite long, probably 3 km or longer.

A beautiful river canal right through the middle of the city. Very relaxing and serene. While we were there, there was a pop-up library with little seats and lanterns following the Riverwalk. A beautiful serene experience in the middle of the chaos of the city. Definitely worth a visit!
