How Baby-Friendly is Cheonggyecheon, Seoul?

Paved paths and elevators allow strollers, and some accessible toilets have changing tables, yet there is no on-site nursing room or stroller rental and water edges lack railings.

Positives:

  • Stroller access: Flat, paved paths with curb ramps at each bridge allow easy stroller movement.
  • Free baby facilities: Cheonggyecheon Museum offers free baby carriage rentals, changing tables and elevators.
  • Shaded rest spots: Benches under bridges provide sheltered areas for feeding or nap breaks.

Challenges:

  • Stepping stones: Stone crossings by Cheonggye Plaza are uneven and not suitable for strollers.
  • Limited on-trail nursing rooms: No dedicated nursing rooms along the stream; use nearby subway stations or malls.
  • Crowds during festivals: Lantern festivals draw large crowds which may make stroller navigation harder.

Recommended visit duration: 2-3 hours

Why 2-3 hours visit duration is ideal for with baby: Allows a relaxed stroller walk, museum visit and breaks without rushing.

Nice area to take a stroll or walk across the city without traffic lights. Sit by the river with food and drinks is also possible. Some parts of the river smells a little weird, but the sections 500m downstream onward are perfect and calm.

It's very tranquil, even the bustling of a busy city, just meters above the stream. Office worker on their way to work. People jogging and old folks just resting on the steps of the stream. If you are observing enough, you will notice wild lives around you. The stream is quite long, probably 3 km or longer.

Beautiful river canal that is very clean and a place to hang out and relax. The sound of water stream and birds was so wonderful. Great place to just rest and have a quiet moment.

A beautiful river canal right through the middle of the city. Very relaxing and serene. While we were there, there was a pop-up library with little seats and lanterns following the Riverwalk. A beautiful serene experience in the middle of the chaos of the city. Definitely worth a visit!
