Considerations for visiting Samyang Black Sand Beach (with baby)

Positives:

  • Clean facilities: Modern restrooms and changing rooms are free and well-maintained
  • Mineral-rich sand: Black sand therapy is known for relaxing muscles in adults
  • Clear sea water: Calm water at the shore is soothing for baby’s first beach experience

Challenges:

  • Hot sand: Black sand heats quickly; bring sun-proof mat or avoid midday
  • Stroller access: No paved paths; use a baby carrier instead of stroller
  • Limited parking: Approximately 10 spots fill up fast on weekends

Recommended visit duration: 2-3 hours

Why 2-3 hours visit duration is ideal for with baby: Allows time for shade breaks, rock exploration, and baby care without rush

This beach had some nice black sand. Very fine and neat to look at. Not as many folks on this beach as Hamdeok beach, but it is both smaller and located much more residential. When I was there in 27 Sep 2020, there seemed to be a lot of construction around the each which is why it lost a star. Not a ton of benches or places to sit either. Had a few restaurants near by as well.

Black sands with seas that blend in with the horizon, and ships lighting their lamps on the horizon. Amazingly beautiful!
