What makes it 56% Baby-Friendly: A pram fits the flat main track and town toilets are close, yet there are no nursing rooms, change tables, or shelter on site, so caring for a baby is possible but inconvenient in bad weather.
Why 1-2 hours visit duration is ideal for with baby: Short outing lets you explore the restored huts and creekside picnic without over-tiring your baby.
Pram-friendly Settlement walk:
Follow the flat, paved dray track through the restored miner huts and interpretive panels.
Tip: Start at the visitor sign and move at your baby’s pace; take breaks under willow trees by the creek.
Riverside picnic at Bush Creek:
Enjoy a grassy spot beside shallow creek pools for baby splash time.
Tip: Pack easy-to-eat snacks and a blanket; shade is limited after midday.
Lakes District Museum & Gallery:
Visit indoor exhibits and use baby-change facilities.
Tip: Enter early for quieter galleries and check opening hours (9 am–5 pm daily).
Arrow River Trail stroller push:
Stroll the safe, traffic-free riverside path that links to town.
Tip: Bring a lightweight stroller or travel pram for smooth wheels on gravel.

I went because of the high ratings and reviews. But was quite disappointed. Sure it has some old stone huts but that’s about it. Nothing historically spectacular. You can absolutely skip this spot and you wouldn’t miss anything.

Historical place about the gold mine and the immigrants who worked here. Now it's a peaceful place with great walking trails. Lovely time spent here walking around and reading the descriptions on the history boards.

Some interesting historical information. Flat area to walk around. Not a great deal to see. I did however see my first ever bumblebee. Much bigger than a 'normal' bee

An incredible glimpse into the history of Arrowtown and Chinese miners in New Zealand. Lots of information, and great restoration of the site. Paired with a visit to the museum nearby, it was well worth a visit!
