What makes it 44% Baby-Friendly: The venue supplies baby-change tables and lift access, yet prams cannot enter the auditorium, no nursing room exists, and sudden loud effects could upset infants, so advance planning is essential.
Note: The Court Theatre is 44% Baby-Friendly. You may want to consider other Baby-Friendly Things to Do in Christchurch for a more suitable experience.
Why 1-2 hours visit duration is ideal for with baby: Short visit keeps your baby comfortable and lets you enjoy a performance without a long wait.
Locate baby-changing rooms:
Find drop-down benches in each accessible restroom on all levels.
Tip: Visit restrooms before seating to know where to change nappies quickly.
Use the drop-off bays:
Unload your pram and capsule at free 10-minute zones on Colombo or Gloucester Street.
Tip: Arrive 10 minutes early to park near the entrance and avoid carrying heavy gear.
Ask for front-of-house help:
FOH staff can guide you to a quiet corner or help carry a folded pram.
Tip: On arrival, mention you have a baby and request the calmest spot in the foyer.

On Wednesday I attended a performance with my son of "The Kings Speech". I tip my hat to all the preformers, but most definitely to the lead who played Berty. To portrait a stammer to such believable level is a credit to him. Beautiful facility that was well worth the wait.

The newly built theatre is a lovely venue. We were in the Front Room where the front seats are very low down but surprisingly comfortable. You couldn't be any closer to the performance either. The show, End of Summertime, was very well done and quite moving. Front of house pizzas before the show were nice too. All in all, excellent.

An amazing experience to attend the Court. A great example of the exciting new building rampage that's on in Christchurch at the moment. I love laminated timber constructions. Also a great show. End of the Gokden Weather...a kiwi classic. Great to see Ian Mune and Mark Hadlow still going strong.

Amazing place and the best theatre in New Zealand. Didn't see any show but went with a group of business people from Business Canterbury. Really good talent there and the costume department is very impressive. Looking forward to watching some productions here.
During Open Christchurch in early May, book a free behind-the-scenes tour and ask if pram-friendly access is available.
