Definitely recommend a visit to see these amazing birds in large flocks and colonies. There is a nice short hike down that gets you closer to these amazing birds. 1000s of them at various stages of breeding and hatching chicks. The beach was really good with huge waves and lots of folks surfing.

Absolutely stunning beach from both sides of the cliffs were the gannets nesting. The views from beach at their colonies is still amazing. We were lucky to go to the cave just below the gannets in low tide.
Gannets nest here August–March. Visit September–October mornings for peak courtship displays. Check Auckland Council for track closures in winter.
